New York, June 20, 2017 – Vapiano on Monday celebrated the grand re-launch of its New York City Flagship location at 113 University Place with a star-studded event attended by as many as 600 VIP guests. Vapiano CEO Jochen Halfmann unveiled the completely refurbished NYC space, featuring a new dining room, state-of-the art equipment and cooking line, a remodeled pasta manifattura, a new addition to the take-out and delivery station and a redesigned bar.
Vapiano CEO Jochen Halfmann said: “The re-launch of our flagship restaurant at University Place is a real milestone for Vapiano and marks the latest step in our global expansion. The U.S. market has great potential for Vapiano and we are delighted that we see such strong sales growth in our existing restaurants.”
The re-launch of Vapiano’s NYC location is the latest in a series of new openings planned by Vapiano in the United States this year, including new restaurants to be launched in Miami, Chicago and Washington, DC that will take Vapiano’s U.S. restaurant count to 10 by the end of this year. The U.S. expansion of Vapiano, the gastronomic lifestyle brand founded in 2002, is part of its broader plan to nearly double the count of its restaurants around the globe to 330 by the end of 2020.
Doors at the new Union Square Vapiano opened with a red carpet entrance and guests – including celebrities such as Actress Gina Gershon, Real Housewives of NYC’s Kelly Bensimon and Orange is the new Black’s Diane Guerrero – were greeted with Prosecco and appetizers. The night kicked off with a ribbon cutting and speeches by Jochen Halfmann, CFO Lutz Scharpe, Board Member Mario C. Bauer and Vapiano USA CEO Carlos Politano, before the Vapianisti fired up their cooking stations and started serving Vapiano’s signature freshly-made Italian-style pizza and pasta dishes.
RANKFURT, June 27 (Reuters) – Shares in German-owned restaurant chain Vapiano started trading at 23.95 euros in their Frankfurt debut on Tuesday, about 4 percent above their issue price.
Vapiano placed almost 8 million shares at 23 euros apiece in its initial public offering (IPO), raising about 184 million euros ($206 million) and giving it a market value of about 553 million.
Vapiano has 185 restaurants in more than 30 countries and plans to increase this to 330 by the end of 2020. It also wants to develop its take-away food and home delivery businesses.

Roundup, a 54° East company will expand its food truck operations into Saudi Arabia after Ramadan.
The 15-month old business has signed a deal with a Saudi partner and has opened an office in Riyadh, which will have full authority over legislation for the Saudi operation of Roundup trucks.
More offices will open throughout the Kingdom over the next year, including one in Jeddah.
Al Mulla estimates that there will be between 45 – 75 trucks in Saudi Arabia by the end of the first year of operations in the country.
Some of the food truck concepts in Saudi Arabia will be duplicates of the Dubai trucks, however brands are still to be confirmed.
There are currently two Roundup trucks operating in Saudi Arabia: a grocery truck and a pet grooming truck, with between six and seven F&B trucks to be confirmed next month.
According to Al Mulla, Roundup is looking for expansion opportunities around the world, with the first step to be GCC expansion.
She commented: “We have some early stage discussions with GCC partners but nothing is confirmed. We’re still in early stages and we’re more than confident that by next year we’ll be all over the GCC with our shawarma or hot dog trucks.
“We’re looking at Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain. We have already exported some food trucks to those regions but we’re looking for partners and as soon as we find them, all of the food truck orders will come through them.”
Al Mulla says that the company is also hoping to secure a partner in the USA, and is exploring opportunities in Europe and Asia.
Roundup currently has 27 trucks and operates from six international factories.
Each truck has the capacity to cater for more than 5,000 people per day.
The company can deliver trucks within two to six weeks after an order is placed.
